Students, businessmen or travelers in search of a secure bag to tote their small laptops and gear need not look any further than Pacsafe's MetroSafe 300 laptop bag.

Unlike many messenger bags and even some laptop bags that use conventional zippers or Velcro straps to keep contents in, Pacsafe MetroSafe 300 makes security a priority.

By incorporating a combination lock and other security features such as slash-proof shoulder straps, tamper-proof zippers and smaller sized pockets MetroSafe bags deflect thieves’ advances.

Pacsafe’s MetroSafe 300 Laptop Bag

Despite its name, these bags look nothing like a safe – who wants to carry around an unattractive metal box? But they do work in the same way. Weaved inside the fabric of all Pacsafe bags including the Pacsafe MetroSafe 300 and other bags, tiny metal fibers called exomesh act like a slashproof barrier preventing thieves from slicing open the bag with a sharp knife and grabbing its contents.

Best of all Pacsafe’s Metrosafe bags are attractive and available in two colours (basic black and deep chocolate). They look like regular bags, blend in well without being bland and don’t draw attention like clunky laptop bags.

Pacsafe MetroSafe 300 Uses

Though slightly heavier than average canvas bags due to their added security features, the MetroSafe 300 laptop bags come in handy when:

  • Commuting on public busses or subways. The secure locks keep all valuables safely away from roaming fingers and pickpockets. When taking overnight trains or public transportation the strap easily skirts around any immobile pipe or bar and fastens to it for extra safety.
  • Walking on busy streets in foreign cities or even at home. The slashproof strap prevents cut-and-grab robbers and the exomesh lining prevents thieves from slashing the bag open. And when walking long distance, the bag easily converts to a backpack for extra comfort.
  • Traveling. Makes a perfect day bag. The large pockets hold small laptops but also easily stash guidebooks, maps, GPS devices, and portable music devices – basically any small item needed for a trip. When traveling alone or with strangers, if the time comes to take a quick dip or if nature calls, with everything locked inside its easy to leave the bag unattended. Because the shoulder strap is long and adjustable, it can be used to wrap around trees, bicycle poles, or anything else that doesn’t move.
  • Staying in hotels. Not every hotel room comes equipped with a room safe. Since the bag fully locks, valuables can be stored inside for maximum security even inside the room. Just fasten it to a heavy piece of furniture, a bathroom fixture or the inside of a closet and leave things in the room worry free.
  • At school and at work. People come and go each day in offices and schools. It’s not always possible to keep an eye on things. School cafeterias and class rooms have hundreds of people filing through them every day. One quick move and a dishonest co-worker could be off with a nice new laptop. Locking valuables inside the bag and attaching it to a chair makes office security a breeze.

While attractive, compact and secure, Pacsafe’s MetroSafe 300 wasn’t made to hold laptops bigger than 13 inches. And at $99, it’s a little pricy for a regular bag, but if security is the main feature when seeking out a laptop bag, Pacsafe’s hard to beat.

Pacsafe’s MetroSafe 300 and all Pacsafe products are available on their official website.
